A Trying Day, 2011 Chicago Cup

It was a difficult and trying day for us at the Chicago Cup, the CMRC Grade 2 open, but we rallied back in the last race to add a point to the score board and take our record to 3-5. There is one more race in the first round robin which will decide the top eight to advance to the second round. We are currently in a tie for 6th place with two other teams, so racing is still tight.

Grade 2 At Chicago Match Race Center

After a couple weeks off, the team met up today for the practice day of the CMRC Grade 2 Invitational. The regatta is the first event of four in the USA Grade 2 series which runs through this month. There are 10 teams competing from five nations, including last year's champion Mike Buckley and previous winner of the World Match Race Tour, Bill Hardesty.

5th At the Maclaren/Laser Performance Heavy Weather Laser Slalom

It was much more of a heavy weather day today at the Maclaren/Laser Performance Heavy Weather Laser Slalom. I made it to the final 6 boats before I lost my race by a foot or so at the finish to finish tied for the 5th spot.

StFYC Heavy Weather Slalom

Around 2pm today racing got underway at the 2011 Maclaren/ Laser Performance Heavy Weather Slalom. I had a good day despite only sailing one race. After having a bye in the first round, I won my race against Luke Parker to advance to the next round. Tomorrow I start against Scott Ferguson, the 2009, 2010 Master Laser World Champion and designer for Oracle.

Team Maclaren has just wrapped up a great week of sailing in Weymouth, UK. We headed over there on July 23 to do a week of training with Audi Match Race Team (Team Finland :Silja, Silja, and Miksu), Team New Zealand (Stephanie, Jenna, and Susanah), and our USSTAG teammates (Sally, Maggie and Alana). It was a pleasant week with only one day starting a little on the chilly side, but ending like the rest, with sunshine and nice breeze.

Team Maclaren Takes 2nd At 2011 Stena Women's Match Cup

We ended up second overall at the 2011 Stena Women's Match Cup. It was a very close battle right down to the end, but Claire Leroy and team from France pulled off the overall victory.

Advancing To The Finals Tomorrow - Stena Match Cup 2011

It was a long day of sailing today, but a successful one for Team Maclaren, as we advanced to the finals of the Stena Women's Match Cup. After finishing the round robin in second with a 7-2 record, we went on to win our semi-finals 3-0 against GBR's Lucy Magregor.

Stena Women's Match Racing Cup 2011 - Day 1, 4-1

Happy 4th everyone! Hope everyone has had an enjoyable and safe July 4th weekend.

Racing started today at the Stena Women's Match Cup. It was a great day of sailing; the wind was funnnelling down between two rocky islands making conditions puffy and shifty. Add in a bit of wind swirl as it came around the two rocky points and you have the makings of a race track that was different every race. We completed five races today finishing 4-1 for the day.

Team Maclaren Clinches 2011 ISAF World Cup Title For WMR

Today the 2011 ISAF Sailing World Cup wrapped up with the end of the Kieler Woche regatta and Team Maclaren came away with the Women's Match Racing Title.

Team Maclaren finished 5th in this year's Kieler Woche Regatta. We lost the quarterfinals 2-3 to Nicky Souter (AUS). We sailed the consolation round race-offs for 5-8th overall and won our two races to take 5th.
