Racing got underway today at the first ever 49erFX World Championships in Marseille, France. The wind showed up a little late, but came in just long enough for both the men's fleet and the women's fleet to get in two races. Our day, although not the day we would have hoped for, was better than it could have been, finishing with an 11, 6.

Despite the lack of wind during the last race of today's racing, it couldn't have been a much more exciting finish to Act 6 of the Extreme Sailing Series in Cardiff. In a race that went back and forth between three teams for the second place on the podium, we on Alinghi were able to be finish ahead of the other two, clinching second overall in the regatta. In the overall series' standings, we dropped to one point behind this event's winner and overall series' leader, The Wave, Muscat.

Tomorrow starts our racing for the 2013 49erFX World Championships here in Marseille, France. With over 50 teams registered, and this being the first Worlds for this fleet, the racing is going to be intense despite the forecast for lighter winds in the first couple days.

Day three of racing at Act 6 of the Extreme Sailing Series here in Cardiff, provided yet again different conditions. Today we had wind up and down the bay allowing the race committee to set long windward-leeward legs that presented passing lanes and made for tactical sailing. We onboard Alinghi, had an OK day but managed to hang on to the overall lead despite being tied with series' rivals The Wave, Muscat.
